Canada Ports Group focuses on strengthening Canadian port competitiveness
Mr. Dominic J. Taddeo, President and CEO of the Montreal Port Authority, and newly elected head of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) says the Association will continue to work hard in the coming months to advance critical issues for the entire port community in Canada.
"The ACPA is not standing still when it comes to advocating on behalf of Canada’s growing port community," said Mr. Taddeo, who was elected Chair of the Association at its 48th Annual Meeting held recently in Oshawa, Ontario. This is the second time for Mr. Taddeo who served as the Association’s Chair in 1983.
Mr. Taddeo said the ACPA is moving ahead to ensure that the port community speaks with one, strong voice on all the issues that impact the competitiveness of Canada’s vital port system through which a third of Canada’s entire international trade passes.
"This year’s 48th annual conference addressed critical issues like infrastructure capacity, collaboration with neighbouring communities, the environment, port security, and much more,” added Mr. Taddeo. He further noted that, “The Association does much to advance the many issues of importance to Canada’s port system and leaves no stone unturned when it comes to the critical issues before all port operators in this country.”
Dominic Taddeo took over as Chair from Donna Taylor, CEO, Oshawa Harbour Commission. Other members of the Executive Committee of the Board are First Vice-Chair, Sean Hanrahan, President and CEO, St. John’s Port Authority, Newfoundland; Second Vice-Chair, Allen Domaas, President and CEO, Fraser River Port Authority; and Past Chair, Donna Taylor, CEO, Oshawa Harbour Commission.
