Montreal Port Authority hosts Canada Ports Group
for its 49th AGM and Conference
The 49th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Association will be held at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth from August 26 - 29, 2007. “We are excited about hosting this year’s annual conference and receiving members of the port community from across Canada to our world-class city,” commented Dominic J. Taddeo, President and CEO of the Montreal Port Authority, and Chair of the Association. This year’s Conference theme is Canada’s Ports: Vital Economic Engines and the conference will be looking at issues being addressed by Canada’s major ports that make them key economic generators. The conference will also tackle the major challenges before ports and other modes of transportation in the midst of increased world trade.
The 2007 conference will drill down into critical issues like environmental stewardship; burgeoning global trade; the need for transportation infrastructure; Canadian trade corridor policy; new port security initiatives; the growing cruise sector in Canada; and much more. In addition to a full business program the Montreal Port Authority has planned an impressive social program and special events for the delegates and accompanying persons. As the Chair, Dominic J. Taddeo notes: “Only a city like Montreal can provide a unique and unforgettable and diverse cultural experiences.
This year’s AGM and Conference will show clearly the importance of Canada’s major ports as facilitators of trade and commerce.
