Canada Ports Group growing business and increasing influence
Mr. Sean Hanrahan, President and CEO of the St. John’s Port Authority, and newly elected Chair of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) says the Association is on a sound footing and continues to grow both its membership and influence on important issues for all in the port community.
"The ACPA has always been strong in advocating on behalf of the interests of its members and has broadened its reach to influence relevant issues for all who do business with Canada’s major ports," said Mr. Hanrahan, who was elected Chair of the Association at its 49th Annual Meeting held recently in Montreal, Quebec.
Mr. Hanrahan said that the ACPA must ensure that important issues related to trade and the overall competitiveness of Canada’s major ports are at the forefront of the Association’s work. He further added that recent announcements by the federal government on a greater commitment to investment in infrastructure for trade corridors and an ongoing commitment to marine facility security is evidence of that.
"This year’s 49th annual conference addressed critical issues like infrastructure capacity, growing trade trends, environmental stewardship, port security, and much more,” added Mr. Hanrahan. He further noted that, “The Association does much to bring together the many varied interests in the entire marine community and thus unify the marine agenda in Canada.”
Sean Hanrahan took over as Chair from Dominic Taddeo, President and CEO, Montreal Port Authority. Other members of the Executive Committee of the Board are First Vice- Chair, Allen Domaas, President and CEO, Fraser River Port Authority; and Past Chair, Robert Masson, Vice-President, Montreal Port Authority. Elected Directors are: Karen Oldfield, President and CEO, Halifax Port Authority; Gaetan Boivin, President and CEO, Trois-Rivieres Port Authority; Bill Mills, President and CEO, Nanaimo Port Authority; Tim Heney, President and CEO, Thunder Bay Port Authority; Patrick Robitaille, Director, Commercial Affairs, Quebec Port Authority; Lisa Raitt, President and CEO, Toronto Port Authority; Paul Servos, Chief Executive Officer, Greater Victoria Harbour Authority, representing the Associate Members; and Anthony MacGuinness, President and CEO, Atlantic Pilotage Authority, representing the Affiliate Members.
