Canada Ports Group hosts 48th AGM and Conference in Oshawa
The 48th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Association will be held at the Holiday Inn Oshawa from August 13 – 16, 2006. “We are excited about hosting this year’s annual conference and receiving all those in the port community who work hard in ensuring Canada’s maritime trade is strong,” commented Donna Taylor, CEO of the Oshawa Harbour Commission, and this year’s Chair of the Association. This year’s Conference theme is “Ports Progress” and the conference will be taking a look at the progress made by Canada’s ports since the divestiture of ports by Transport Canada in 1999. It will also look ahead to some of the challenges that must be overcome in the years head.
This year’s conference features speakers that will address important issues such as environmental stewardship; increasing demands on port property; Canada’s transportation infrastructure; the increasing initiatives related to port security; and much more. In addition to a full business program the Oshawa Harbour Commission has arranged an impressive social program for the delegates. As the Chair, Donna Taylor notes: “This years conference attendees will experience a social program that will be second to none and we look forward to showing delegates all the area has to offer.”
This year’s AGM and Conference will have delegates roll up their sleeves and engage in healthy discussions about the burgeoning port business in Canada and around the world.
